Jamie Chadwick launches all-female karting programme for 2024

2024 is quickly becoming the year to watch for women in motorsport. After it was announced that Charlotte Tilbury would be partnering with F1 academy to form an elite partnership, it was safe to say that motorsport was already making amazing progress this year for its female participants.

However, it was also announced in this past week that Jamie Chadwick, a British racing driver who now drives in America’s Indy NXT series, has announced that she has created a go-karting tournament that is aiming to inspire an upcoming generation of female racing drivers.

Jamie Chadwick uses her platform as a way to promote gender equality in motorsport and discusses how, despite her numerous successes, she still receives insults about her gender. By creating this tournament for women, it is hoped that female racers feel that they have a community to be involved in the world of motorsports, and feel supported and empowered whilst doing so. The winner of ‘The Jamie Chadwick series’ is set to receive financial aid, as well as advice and mentorship from Chadwick herself.

Whilst this competition is only happening at a grassroots level, it can certainly be said that this year is shaping a positive change for women in motorsport, with the creation of not only new partnerships, but also new opportunities for women of all backgrounds to be involved in the world of racing.
