Somkiat Chantra, Ai Ogura and Honda Team Asia can celebrate this weekend with a P1 and P2 respectfully resulting in a wonderful Grand Prix race for their usual pop up 1-2 result. This year they were able to celebrate at their home race with Motegi providing some superb entertainment for Moto2. Whenever you thought that Chantra was checking out, teammate Ai Ogura gained serious time back to keep the battle alive.
However Chantra was able to keep his cool and take the top step of the podium and team mate Ogura settled for that second spot
World championship leader Pedro Acosta played it safe this weekend, after a poor start Acosta saw the bigger picture and settled into P3 after a strong move on Jake Dixon to take the third spot increasing his championship lead over Tony Arbolino. Arbolino only finishing P11 means Pedro Acosta extends his lead and this championship may be sealed.
