Moto3 in Motegi

Moto3

"I still firmly believe that Moto3 contains some of the best, closest, and most exciting racing you will ever see. This weekend continued that tradition with a wonderful race that saw Diogo Moreira, David Muñoz, and David Alonso showing some aggressive maneuvers for a spectacular race.

Ayumu Sasaki showed a strong performance, wowing the home crowd with some beautiful battling against Jaume Masia, Deniz Öncü, and Dani Holgado. Unfortunately for Deniz Öncü, the battling got too much, and he crashed out of the podium position, marking his first DNF in 44 races.

Rookie world championship hopeful David Alonso had an unfortunate weekend. It was expected that when he hit the flyaway races, his performance might drop off as he encountered circuits he was unfamiliar with. However, he did end on a positive note with a P7, a very impressive performance.

Xavier Artigas continued his bad run after he was too late on the brakes and low-sided into the gravel trap. Other riders that crashed out included Matteo Bertelle and Tatsuki Suzuki.

The day belonged to Jaume Masia, taking his second win in a row. Ayumu Sasaki scored a second place in his home GP, delivering a great performance. The third step of the podium saw Daniel Holgado taking the spot, meaning that the world championship lead now falls into the hands of Jaume Masia."
