Stephs Hot Takes - Drivers Ratings

Max Verstappen: 10/10

Ending the 2023 season as our 2023 world champion and winning an impressive 19 races this season, I have to give Max a rating of 10/10 because it was an impressive season. He broke records and hearts all season but I’m sure we all can’t wait for the next season of “The Max Verstappen Podcast”

Logan Sargent: 4/10

Logan had a tough rookie season only scoring 1 point for the season, but he is becoming more comfortable in the car and Im hoping that he will have a better season next year. Unfortunately not much to say about Logan but I do have to give him props for standing up for himself and voicing when he didn’t feel safe to continue in the car.

Daniel Ricciardo: 7/10

I was so excited to see Danny back on the grid and whilst he only got to drive in 7 race weekends, it was a pleasure to see him back in the car and scoring some points for his team. An unfortunate injury suffered when he chose to crash into a wall and not Piastri, but I am so beyond excited to see what Danny Ric is able to produce next year with a full season.

Lando Norris: 8.5/10

Lando had a good season but still wasn’t able to secure his first victory. He preformed well and had several podium throughout the season. He keeps getting better and hopefully that first win comes next season. Managed to scrape into the drivers standings between the Ferrari boys which is a very impressive feat. Always one to watch.

Pierre Gasly: 7/10

Pierre had a good season and came in 11th in the drivers championship. He managed to get himself a podium and also managed to pull at out heartstrings at Spa. Pierre is a brilliant driver and can’t wait to see what he can do as he becomes more comfortable at his new team.

Sergio Perez: 4/10

Whilst he did come 2nd in the drivers championship, I think it was more his car that got him into the position and not necessarily his driving abilities. Seems to have had a very on and off season and will be interesting to see what happens next season.

Fernando Alonzo: 7.5/10

Fernando had a great start to the season with multiple podiums but wasn’t able to secure the race win. He had a good season and I am interested to see what happens next season with the oldest driver on the grid.

Charles Leclerc: 9.7/10 (HEART RATING 100/10)

Charles had a tough season with many problems and many rough moments. He managed to come 5th in the drivers standings but did the best he could. I am very biased when it comes to Charles as he is my favourite driver, so whilst he had a tough season and gets an 9.7/10… in my heart he will always get a 100/10 because he gives his everything and is always so hard on himself… and because Leclerc Girl For Life!!!!

Lance Stroll: 6/10

Lance started the season strong after overcoming a bike accident and surgery but then seemed to disappear into the midfield. Can’t comment too much on Lance as I honestly don’t pay him too much attention but he did okay.

Kevin Magnussen: 6/10

Kevin had a pretty average year to be fair. Came 19th in the drivers standing but I feel like he just has more fun in the sport than actually taking it seriously. Not the best season for Kevin but he gets a 10/10 for his pre race ritual with his daughter.

Nyck Devries: 3/5/10 (sorry Nyck)

Nycks rookie year was cut short after he only drove for half the 2023 season. He didn’t have the best season and I do believe he should have been able to have a full rookie season, I don’t see how much he would have improved. Because he only raced a half season and didn’t do the best, I don’t have much to rate him off.

Yuki Tsunoda: 6/10

Yuki had a good year but I do feel like he is under pressure with Danny Ric in the other AT seat. He only managed to score 11 more points than Danny Ric and he raced a full season. He is a good racer and has really come into his own this season, but will be interested to see how he goes next season.

Zhou Guanyu: 5.5/10

Zhou did well this season but is a backfield racer. He has some amazing talent and he is a great driver. Can’t say too much about him really, so while he gets a 5.5/10 on the grid, when it comes to his fashion he gets a 10/10 because he rocks his looks.

Alex Albon: 10/10

Alex is such an underrated racer and I am continuously impressed by his skills and talents as a racer. Alex is comfortable in his seat and in his team and that shows in his cool and calm domineer on track.

Nico Hulkenberg: 6/10

Can’t comment too much on Nico’s performance as he seemed like more of a back marker to me during this season. Nothing really stuck out to me with him during the season but I’ll give him a 10/10 for his blonde hair era.

Esteban Ocon: 7.5/10

Estie Bestie had a good season and even managed a podium at the start of the season. Estie is a great driver and whilst underrated can also perform when needed. Can’t wait for our next Estie Bestie podium and he gets a 10/10 for giving us the iconic “ESTIE BESTIE IS ON THE PODIUM BABY”

Liam Lawson: 10/10

Liam had an amazing few races with the AT Team and I am so beyond impressed with how he was able to comfortably jump into the car and drive it the way he did. He is my Rookie Of The Year and I can’t wait for him to get an offical F1 seat. So beyond proud of Liam this season and he should be so proud… also got more points than Sargent so way to go Liam!

Lewis Hamilton: 8/10

Mister Sir Lewis had a great season and came 3rd in the drivers standings. Whilst he didn’t have the greatest start to the season, he managed to stay calm and bring it home for his team and did a great job. Mister Sir Lewis is an amazing driver and whilst not my favourite driver or team, there is no denying he is a brilliant racer.

Carlos Sainz: 9/10

Carlos had a great season and whilst he didn’t beat his team mate in the standings, he did manage to get to the top step during the season and got a win for the prancing horse. Carlos is always such an interesting driver to watch and has such a great awareness for his race craft and is always in the know. Vamos Carlos!

George Russell: 8/10

GRussell had a brilliant season and whilst he did manage to take himself out in Singapore he did manage to 8th in the driver standings and it was a brilliant season from the newest Merc boy. George is a brilliant racer and can’t wait to see what he comes out with next season.

Oscar Piastri: 9/10

The 2023 Rookie Of The Year, Oscar had a brilliant rookie season and even managed to get not only a cup full of podiums but also a sprint race win. Everyone knows that I am not the biggest Oscar fan but he has given me some good moments and memories over the year. Well done to the “Child on the grid” and we are watching to see what happens next season.
